The Lib Dems’ Catherine Walker has narrowly held her seat in North Jesmond, but Labour’s Arlene Ainsley has taken Lib Dem Tom Woodwark’s seat in South Jesmond, following today’s announcement of the 2014 local election results at Newcastle Civic Centre:

North Jesmond

Votes counted were as follows: CRUTE (Con) 276, DOWSON (Green) 277, SMITH (LAB) 589, SOLYOM (UKIP) 144, WALKER (Lib Dems) 621.

South Jesmond

Votes counted were as follows: AINSLEY (Lab) 752, LEE (Con) 236, STANSFIELD (UKIP) 164, WATERSTON (Green) 279, WOODWARK (Lib Dems) 396
