Jesmond Methodists prepare for week of prayer
Jesmond Methodist Church begins a special week of prayer on Monday, with sessions taking place in its sanctuary on St George’s Terrace each lunchtime at 12.30pm to 1pm from January 25th to 29th.
Each short worship session will be led by a different minister from a different denomination, offering locals the chance to discover new ways of experiencing faith.
The event is something of a tradition in Jesmond, having been held annually for more than 50 years.
Minister for Jesmond Methodist Church, Rob Hawkins, explained: “The aim of the week is mainly for churches of Jesmond to unite, and try something a little bit different.”
In a change to the schedules from previous years, a special service will also be held at Holy Trinity Church, in Churchill Gardens, Jesmond on Monday 25th January at 7.30pm.
Hawkins commented: “We wanted to try something different for this year – everyone’s invited!”
The lunchtime sessions will take place daily from Monday to Friday, from 12.30pm-1pm.
