An inspector calls… online
Jesmond residents are being offered the chance to take part in a pioneering new initiative launched by Northumbria Police.
Cyberspace is the setting for a two-hour “web chat” in which members of the public can discuss any issues or concerns surrounding crime in the Jesmond area.
The virtual meetings have already proven to be a success in areas including Benwell, Fenham and Kenton.
Inspector Jan Harrison will log on to speak to Jesmond residents in the comfort of their own homes this evening (Tuesday, 16th March) from 7pm to 9pm.
The initiative is intended to make the police more accessible to the wider community
Insp Harrison said: “We recognise people lead busy lives and this is a way for people to find out what they need from their local officers without having to leave their home.”
To log on, go to the Northumbria Police website at www.northumbria.police.uk this evening, find the Jesmond page and follow the link into the meeting to join in at any time during the two-hour meeting time.
