Seeking the views of Jesmond’s over-50s
Jesmond locals over the age of 50 are being invited to attend a couple of meetings today (Tuesday 16th March) at Jesmond Library, to hear about initiatives to improve the neighbourhood for older people.
The Quality of Life Partnership is looking for volunteers would be interested in working with it to produce a DVD about living in Jesmond. The idea is that this DVD will be given to students moving into the area, to give them a sense of the neighbourhood and the people living in it. If you are interested, the meeting will be taking place in library’s community room at 10am today. For further information contact Chris Taylor or Jill Hargreaves on 0191 233 2001.
Then at 11.30am, in the same room, the Elders Council of Newcastle will be explaining its plan to audit the community facilities to see whether they are accessible and providing the services that older people need and want. For further information about this initiative, call Anne Richardson on 233 0200.
