Pretty in pink at Jesmond Pool
Staff and volunteers at Jesmond Pool raised over £800 for Breast Cancer Awareness by holding a “Pink Day” at the Pool on Monday 18 October.
Anyone found to be wearing a pink garment was “fined” £1, and there was a raffle, tombola, pink cakes and a competition to guess the number of pink buttons in a glass jar.
Organiser Julie said afterwards: “Our target was to raise £500 so we were thrilled to do better than that. We were greatly assisted by the generosity of all the donors who gave prizes and cakes, and by the customers and staff who continued to buy tickets for the tombola, even after several unsuccessful attempts!”
One customer said: “The staff look so pretty in pink; they should repeat this every week.”
