Shepherd to reveal latest La Sagesse plans next week
Shepherd Offshore, owner of the former La Sagesse School site, has invited local residents next week to view a revised set of proposals for its development.
Consultants for the company announced plans last October to build 60 homes – 28 houses and 32 apartments – on the site. The main entrance to the site would be widened to allow for two-way traffic and there would be a route through the estate for cyclists and pedestrians. However, after local residents and council planners expressed reservations about the plans, JesmondLocal understands that the number of new homes being proposed has been reduced to 50 and that a formal planning application will be submitted next month (August).
Shepherd Offshore, the family-owned business of Freddy and Bruce Shepherd, acquired the Jesmond Towers Estate in March 2009, following the closure of La Sagesse School. Next week’s consultation takes place at Jesmond Towers on Tuesday (19th July) from 3pm t0 8pm.
If you live near Jesmond Towers, we’d like to hear your views on the proposed development. Post your comments below.
