Halloween treats in store
Jesmond cafes and bakeries are serving up a range of spooky treats this Halloween, aimed at customers with a sweet tooth (or fang) and hoping to get their inner werewolf drooling.
Café 1901 will be serving up cupcakes and pumpkin pie tart. Whether you eat in or take out, there’s plenty for children and adults alike.
Mistletoe Bakery has baked up a storm of goodies this Halloween season. Spider cupcakes, cookies, and sugar pastry tarts are all on offer, and suitable for children’s Halloween parties.
You can also find Halloween cupcakes at Stewart and Co., along with pumpkin soup to keep customers warm on chilly October days. When it comes to customer favourites, Stewart and Co. employee Veronica Jakab says its cupcakes are particularly popular.
New on the Jesmond food scene, Archer’s Jersey Ice Cream parlour is selling Halloween-themed ice cream cake. The cakes can be bought straight from the parlour’s selection or made to order (but allow two days notice for any custom orders). Archer’s ice cream cake can also be delivered straight to your door (within reasonable distance). Adding to the Halloween spirit, owner Sharon Greener is also introducing a Halloween picture drawing competition, one for children under the age of 7, and one for children between the ages of 8 and 12. The selected winner from each group will receive a litre tub of their favourite ice cream.
