Royal recognition for local army medics
Army medics who served in Afghanistan received medals from Her Royal Highness the Countess of Wessex yesterday, as part of the Armed Forces Day celebrations at Exhibition Park.
Soldiers from the 201 Northern Field Hospital Royal Army Medical Corps paraded through Newcastle city centre before making their way to the Town Moor to receive their medals.
Members of the public were able to meet armed forces representatives, and explore some of the vehicles and equipment they use.
The Countess is a patron of the Queen Alexandra’s Royal Army Nursing Corps.
