England cricketers pad up in Jesmond
Jesmond locals will get a chance tomorrow (Friday 31st August) to watch international cricketers when the England Physical Disability XI take on a North East Universities XI. The England side includes Ian Nairn, a former Newcastle Cricket Club player, pictured here playing for the club in 2007.
“This is a rare chance to see this terrific team in action,” says cricket club secretary Olwyn Hocking. “The game has been arranged to mark the Paralympics.”
The match has been switched to the Osborne Avenue ground from Durham, where the ground is waterlogged.
The match starts at 10.30 on Friday 31 August, and there is no charge to visitors.
