According to Pool secretary Chris Clarke, the sessions will take place on Saturday mornings from 8:30am to 9:30am, starting on 29 January. Priced £4.10 per session, it will, says Clarke, be ideal for cyclists and triathletes.

The following weekend sees the launch of a “Vinyasa Flow” yoga class, running on Saturday mornings from 10:30 to 11:30am. The classes are aimed at anyone seeking an “invigorating yoga class, leaving you calm yet energised”. Price is again £4.50 per session.

Over the Christmas and New Year holiday a range of improvements have been carried out at Jesmond Pool. A new sauna has been installed, the pool filters and circulating pumps refurbished, a new disinfection system installed, new easy entry steps fitted, the activity room and stairs repainted, female changing facilities upgraded, reception office and computer facilities improved, and the pool tank regrouted.

It is the first major programme of improvements since the building reopened in 2003, and has been funded jointly by the pool itself and Newcastle City Council, through the Ward Capital Improvement Fund for North Jesmond.
