Newcastle Cricket Club celebrates its history

As the 125th anniversary of Newcastle Cricket Club approaches, there is an opportunity this Sunday to discover the Osborne Avenue club’s rich history. From significant family events, to international cricketing triumphs, the ground holds a special place in many hearts, and for many reasons.

Club secretary Olwyn Hocking says: “Newcastle cricket club has a remarkable history, and has touched many people all around the world, as well as the local community. We hope that Sunday’s heritage event will encourage people to come and share their own memories, photos and suggestions for people we should contact.”

Photographs dating back to the 1900s will be on display throughout the afternoon, and local historian Lynn Pearson, author of English Heritage publication Played in Tyne and Wear, will be on hand from 2.30pm to sign copies, available on the day at a 20% discount price.

There will be a cafe service available, along with the  usual range of ales, from 12pm until 4pm at the clubhouse.
