Jesmond ward meetings – live!

Crime, traffic queues and financial grants to local churches, charities and cricket club are just some of the topics on the agenda of this evening’s North Jesmond ward committee meeting, being held at St Hilda’s Church Hall on Thornleigh Road.

The action starts at 6.30pm, but if you can’t get along (and let’s face it, for anyone with kids, 6.30pm is not a great time to be holding a meeting), our chief reporter, Sophie Bauckham will be live-blogging the main points of discussion and debate. Just click below – and add your comments.

I don’t think there is ever a suitable time for these kinds of meetings. If they were held during the day full time workers would be excluded. Weekends anyone? I’d doubt it. I’m glad to see their is an effort to provide live coverage on the internet though.

Thanks for that Rachel, but this JesmondLocal live blog is essentially a voluntary effort – perhaps Newcastle City Council should also be exploring ways of improving access – online or otherwise – to these important meetings

I got that impression. Thanks for voluntary effort. I really like what you have done.

Thanks for the coverage – it’s appreciated.

Yes NCL council should really be doing something like this to increase access to this sort of meeting.

  5. David Hardman says:

Just for accuracy. It was Operation Oak and £30 million in cuts we discussed.

Thanks for doing this Jesmond Local (and Sophie) it is a great service for Jesmond. I agree it would be great to see this for all public meetings of Newcastle City Council.
