Ladies’ fashion emporium, the Sara Macleod Boutique, is settling into life on Acorn Road, Jesmond, after moving from the city’s Eldon Square Shopping Centre four months ago.

The Boutique’s eponymous owner, Sara Macleod, told JesmondLocal: “I wanted my boutique to become part of the Jesmond community. I have found people to be interested, welcoming and very pleasant so far. I wanted to be somewhere sufficiently vibrant and I have found that here.”

A former languages teacher at the Royal Grammar School, Macleod is already well acquainted with the Jesmond area, and has found it easy to settle in and acquire regular customers. She often buys stock with specific customers in mind. “I have realised that necklines, colour and skirt length play a large part in what certain women will wear,” she said.

Brands sold in the shop include Penny Black, Max Mara, Fenn Wright Manson and Ella London. Macleod appears to take pride in the individuality of her stock; with one of the most unique items being an eel skin bag by Makki.

Susan Hindhaugh, a local teaching assistant aged 39, said: “I have found the odd item in the shop recently. There is some lovely knitwear at the moment”.

The Boutique was recently featured in Living North magazine’s four-day Christmas shopping fair at Newcastle Racecourse in Gosforth, and also took part in the annual fashion show at As You Like It on 18 October, organised by sport fundraising group, The Lady Taverners.
