Police release images of men who could help with theft enquiry

Northumbria Police are searching for two men after the theft of a handbag from a vehicle parked in Wellburn Park in Jesmond on October 15th.

The men are were spotted on CCTV on Chillingham Road, when the card from the stolen handbag was used in the area in the following days after the event.

Images have been released today of two men the police believe could help with their investigations.

Northumbria Police were unable to comment any further at this stage.

There were 538 accounts of “other theft” (defined as not from the person) in Jesmond and Heaton between October 2017 to September 2018, 9% of all crimes in the area that year, according to police crime statistics.

In the surrounding areas, including Newcastle Central, Gosforth, Fenham and Scotswood, other theft accounted for 9% of crime for the year.

Nationally, in the year ending June 2018, other theft in Newcastle was higher than the average other theft rate across similar areas of the country, according to Police.UK, second only to Manchester.
