Newcastle Restaurant Week is here, and Jesmond is ready
Jesmond’s hospitality sector is hoping for a mid-winter boost as Newcastle Restaurant Week returns this month. From today (12 January) until Sunday (18 January), several local eateries will join venues across the city in offering set-price menus designed to encourage footfall during the industry’s quietest period. The bi-annual event, which also runs every August, aims to make dining out more accessible amid rising costs. Within Jesmond, the following restaurants have confirmed their participation:
Branches
From 14 January to 17 January, Branches at 9 Osborne Road is offering a three-course meal for £25 per person. This applies to lunchtimes on Friday and Saturday, and to dinner from Wednesday to Friday. Branches is rated top 10 restaurant in Newcastle by Tripadvisor.

Chakh Dhoom
Throughout the whole week, you can enjoy one small plate and one curry for £20 from Chakh Dhoom, 127 Osborne Road. The curry is served with saffron pulao rice and double tadka dal, and everyone on the table must order from the restaurant week menu.

Sohe
Sohe at 97-103 Osborne Road is an Asian restaurant offering 50% off food until 30 January. The offer is applicable on its a la carte menu up to £15 per person, and it is not valid on Saturdays.

Saray Turkish Grill House
Saray Turkish Grill House at 46 Osborne Road has an early-bird offer, meaning that if you eat between 12 and 4pm, you can have two courses for £17.99, or three courses for £19.99. This is only available from Monday to Thursday, and has no set date to end.

Lovage
Lovage at 115 St George’s Terrace is a fine dining restaurant with hints of Mediterranean influence and has chosen to attract guests through a giveaway. Its “Taste of Lovage” offer gives diners the chance to win a tasting menu experience, including wine, worth £300. The competition closes on 20 January.

Other Jesmond favourites, such as Acropolis, Fat Hippo, Dot Bagels and Dabbawal, are also getting involved with deals happening at their branches based in the city centre, in an effort to keep business lively over the January period.
“Newcastle Restaurant Week is a significant boost to our business at notoriously quiet times of year,” said Daniel Stamas, owner of Kafeneon on Newcastle’s Bigg Market, in a press release by NE1, a business-led company that manages and promotes Newcastle through initiatives like Newcastle Restaurant Week to boost the local economy.
In 2024, both restaurant weeks had a combined economic impact of £2.2million. Newcastle Restaurant Week started up in 2012, with only 13 restaurants at first. Now, more than 100 take part.
