Work at the Burdon Terrace church has already begun. “We want to provide a community focus for South Jesmond by providing spaces for a variety of activities, including concerts, theatre, exhibitions, meeting rooms, for community and church use,” explains church secretary Alison Shiels.

The tabletop sale, in aid of the church’s Development Fund, will take place in the church hall from 10am to 12 noon. “There will be lots of bargains, including bric-a-brac, jewellery, scarves, clothing, books, CDs and stamps,” says Shiels. “And free tea and coffee!” Admission is £1.
