Hit-and-run leaves pedestrian in critical but stable condition

A 19-year-old man has been described as in a critical but stable condition, since being left in hospital with life-threatening injuries from a hit-and-run in Jesmond a fortnight ago.

Five people were arrested in connection with the incident: three men aged 20 and two women, both aged 21. However, four of these have been released without charge and one 20 year old male has been released on bail.

The event occurred in the early hours of Thursday, November 1st after the pedestrian was left in critical condition, following a collision on the Great North Road between the A167 Central Motorway and the A189 Grand Stand.

Police are still appealing for witnesses to contact them with any information on 101 ext 69191.
